Ebays

The body of work "ebays" refers to pictures taken from the online marketplace "ebay".

There the transactions of each ebay-user are documented with several photos for 90 days to provide transparency and confidence for the other users. The photos show the objects which were bought or sold by the chosen person – and all together they already allow to create a conception of the person behind these objects and its potential habitat.

The single photos are recombined in digital collages and together they show a fictive and constructed but possible interieur-photo of the chosen ebay-user's home. The pictures also play with aspects of time and space in photograhy. Objects that might never have been in the person's possesion at the same time or never have been located in the same room together are now collaged into one picture and into one moment – imagination and reality are merging together in each of these collages.
This fictive spaces are the result of an interpretation and combination of the sum of single objects and the person behind these objects can be associated and interpreted by the viewer.

The pictures are titled with the alias-names of the ebay-users which are usually peculiar neologisms. The titles complete the image of the person behind the pictures – e.g. "steffen1969hund", "audifahrersex", "newyorker1000", "cbgcom".

As a part of the image the titles are either printed inside the frame directly on the passepartout or under the image directly on the wall.
